Alex Wilson's Mali Latino

Pianist, arranger, composer and bandleader Alex Wilson presents Mali Latino, a thrilling Afro-Latin music collaboration with Malian kora master Sidiki Diabate (Brother of Toumani).
Born out of an earlier encounter (for the 2004 track Remercia les travailleurs) and an Aldeburgh Music residency, Mali Latino is a rare moment of musical alchemy: a collision of two distinct styles and traditions that sparks a genuinely new sound.
In anticipation of the imminent album release, Alex Wilson now takes mali Latino on the road. With Alex Madou and Malian percussion virtuoso Ahmed Fogana heading up a sensational nine-piece band (including trumpet, trombone and full Latin percussion section), this cross-cultural music adventure delivers a rich mix of Latin dance patterns and driving West African rhythms.
